National Sibling Day

Sibling

Dear Micah and Jett,

January 25th is national opposite day (or is it?). March 6th is national frozen food day (makes perfect sense that it’s also my birthday). October 18th is national no beard day.

Every day is something.

Today, it’s national sibling day. It’s significant for the both of you since you’re just 11 months apart- You are expected to be close to each other. I genuinely hope that you are close, especially as kids. I am 5 years older than my sister, and 7 years older than my brother. It’s a hard gap to close. I love my brother and sister, but our spheres of interest never really intertwined. By the time my sister discovered, and fell in love with, The Spice Girls, I was convinced there was no longer good music to be made.

Seriously, it needs to be etched in the annals of time that I do not like the Spice Girls. Should anything happen to me, let that be a clear memory of your father’s legacy…

The two of you have each other, and should be ever thankful for this. As it turns out, in a couple of months, you’ll have another brother to celebrate national sibling day with- Fisher Lewis Amsden. This could be our last child- the thought of 3 boys in our home has us a little nervous, to say the least.

I want you to take care of the little guy. Your mom and I have no idea what it’s like to be the youngest child. We’re both the oldest. Make sure he doesn’t get into too much trouble, and that when he does get in trouble, that it’s not because you both convinced him to do something that he shouldn’t have.

Love,

Dad
